I love Ann Arbor, its people, and its diverse neighborhoods. I grew up in a neighborhood that was like an extended family. We all knew each other and watched out for each other. Right now, the 5th Ward is a place where we still wave and smile and help each other. This sense of neighborhood and community makes Ann Arbor great. I believe that many factors encourage this climate of friendliness and should be preserved. I want to protect our many distinct neighborhoods from the unintended consequences of the kinds of proposed zoning changes and sun-light blocking structures that may well undermine our sense of community and destroy the look and feel of our neighborhoods. Instead, lets encourage development that respects the scale, architecture, and social climate of our different neighborhoods.
Ann Arbor faces complex, interrelated environmental challenges:
My goal is to put Ann Arbor citizens first. I am working so that the ideas and ideals of the community drive decisions. I know from my term in office that citizens have the skills, knowledge, and deep personal commitment to Ann Arbor to take us forward in the best possible way.
